Independent Pressure Mapping Results:
Ranked #1 of 16 Saddles Tested

Method: gebioMized Pressure Mapping
Field: 16 Saddles Tested
Tester: Independent Third-Party Engineer
Key Finding

In independent head-to-head gebioMized contact pressure testing (April 2024), Zeta Saddles recorded the lowest contact pressure at both the pelvic sit bones and the perineum across all 16 saddles tested — including top-selling models from Specialized, Fizik, Selle Italia, Selle SMP, ISM, and Bontrager.

Study Design

Date April 2024
Method gebioMized contact pressure mapping — the industry-standard technology for quantifying saddle-to-rider pressure distribution, used by professional bike fitters, sports scientists, and premium brands including Fizik (One-to-One program)
Conducted By Independent professional bike fitter and engineer — third party, no commercial affiliation with Zeta Saddles
Saddles Tested 16 saddles including models from Specialized, Selle Italia, Selle SMP, Fizik, ISM, Bontrager, and others
Metrics Peak and average contact pressure (N/cm²) at two anatomically critical zones: (1) pelvic ischial tuberosities (sit bones), (2) perineum and soft tissue

Why gebioMized Is the Gold Standard

gebioMized pressure mapping uses a thin, flexible sensor mat placed on the saddle surface to capture real-time, high-resolution pressure data across the entire contact area during actual pedaling. It produces both numerical pressure values and visual heat maps that make differences between saddles immediately legible.

The technology is the benchmark instrument in the professional cycling industry:

  • Fizik: gebioMized data drives their One-to-One custom saddle printing program — their most premium product line
  • Professional bike fitting studios: Standard diagnostic tool for saddle selection and position analysis worldwide
  • Sports scientists and researchers: Used in peer-reviewed studies on cycling-related soft tissue injury and prevention

When Zeta wins a gebioMized test, it wins on the same instrument the competition uses to justify their own premium pricing. There is no more credible benchmark in the saddle industry.

Results

Measurement Zone Zeta Result vs. Field
Pelvic sit bones

Lowest Recorded Lowest pressure of all 16 saddles Beat all 15 competitors including ISM (designed specifically for perineal pressure elimination), Specialized Mimic, and Selle SMP
Overall ranking #1 of 16 Both measured zones Outperformed brands with 100+ years of combined saddle development, including those using 3D-printed adaptive lattice technology

Competitive Significance

ISM exists solely to eliminate perineal pressure — Zeta scored lower.

ISM's entire brand identity is built on removing the saddle nose to eliminate soft-tissue contact. Reactive Padding™, on a conventional saddle shape, produced lower perineal pressure than ISM's noseless design. This is the most significant single data point in the study.

Specialized Mirror uses 3D-printed adaptive lattice — Zeta scored lower.

The Mirror saddle is Specialized's most technologically advanced product, priced at $280–$450. It uses averaged rider data to create zone-specific foam lattice density. Reactive Padding™ outperformed it on both measured zones.

Fizik Adaptive is the benchmark for 3D-printed saddle technology — Zeta scored lower.

Fizik's Adaptive series is among the most cited premium options in professional bike fitting. Reactive Padding™ outperformed it despite costing a fraction of the price.

The test was conducted by an independent third party.

The professional bike fitter and engineer who conducted the test had no commercial relationship with Zeta Saddles. This independence makes the results usable in marketing, press, and sales conversations without qualification.
